Embedded Systems
As computers get smaller, faster, cheaper, and more popular, the use of embedded systems grows. Embedded systems are those which are built into equipment - handheld computers, cars, microwave ovens, etc. Producing embedded systems requires knowledge of both hardware and software, an understanding of how specific devices should function, new development procedures including stringent testing and debugging, and new skills and tools. While embedded systems outnumber PCs, and have been used even longer, very soon the wireless applications just beginning to appear will drastically increase the number and type of systems. Therefore, more and more non-technical people need a basic knowledge of the hardware (processors and memory) and the software (embedded applications, operating systems, and databases) in order to work with IT professionals.
Audience:
Non-technical product designers, marketers, sales people, technical recruiters, account managers, HR personnel and trainers are the prime audience although any business person who is new to working with these systems will benefit from this session.
Objectives:
Upon completion of the training, the participant will be able to:
- Confidently communicate with IT professionals about embedded systems;
- Understand microprocessor types and chip design;
- Understand types of memory;
- Understand the concepts of embedding software in devices and software;
- Understand how embedded systems are developed;
- Know the hardware and software tools used to develop embedded systems;
- Use the online database, TechRef®, to reference concepts, technology and embedded system products.
