The Cloud
Are you lost in the cloud? It seems that every time you get close to understanding what’s happening, another wisp of information floats in and you lose your grasp. And it all gets confused with Web 2.0, Web services and SOA (Service Oriented Architecture). Well, we’ve put it together for you. Virtualization is key to the cloud and both storage and server virtualization are covered. Services in the cloud can be put into categories, and IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service) and SaaS (Software as a Service) are covered and illustrated. Storage and databases, development issues, and the major cloud vendors and their products conclude the session.
Audience:
If you work with IT, you need to understand the cloud. This technology is described as a “disruptive technology” – one that will cause companies to change the way they do business. We’re all going to be affected! In particular, business analysts, technical recruiters, account managers, HR staff, technical writers and designers should attend.
Objectives:
Upon completion of The Cloud, you will:
Understand the concept of cloud and the underlying technologies;
Understand the relationship of the cloud, Web 2.0, and web services;
Correctly use cloud terminology including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS;
Know the skills and products used in creating cloud applications;
Know which vendors are dominant in the cloud and their products.
