Understanding IT Jobs
This computer based training is a follow-up to CSTA (Computers: Systems, Terms, and Acronyms). CSTA covers the technology, UITJ covers IT recruitment available in IT.
All IT jobs are described by three dimensions: computer environment, job type, and experience level.
- Experience in mainframe, mid-range, or desktop systems is part of a job definition.
- The job type separates development (applications and technical) and support staff
- IT professionals are juniors, mids, and seniors.
Computer jobs can be labeled as development or support - then development jobs must be characterized as applications or technical. Because people working in all three job types could be using the same skills, understanding what each type does with these skills is necessary. The same computer training courses are also used by junior, mid-level, and senior people, so coverage includes job functions for the different experience levels. In addition, this computer based training covers certifications, and job titles. EA (Enterprise Architecture) and architect titles are covered, and current hot jobs and job trends and projections are included.
Prerequisites:
CSTA (Computers: Systems, Terms, and Acronyms), or an understanding of technology is a prerequisite to attending this seminar. People who have attended a public CSTA class will receive a 50% discount when they attend UITJ within the same calendar year as the CSTA training.
